Innovative walks and treks in Nepal

Everest • Gokyo Lakes • Annapurna • Dhaulagiri • Chitwan • Island Peak • Kathmandu

Active Travel offers a different style of trekking holiday compared to the 'big brand' trekking companies. For decades, the concept of a trekking holiday in Nepal has hardly changed. You arrive in Kathmandu on a set departure date, are thrown together with a group of 12 to 15 strangers and off you go, with very little flexibility. It is still the way most trekking companies operate.

But things have changed. Trekkers expect an experienced and friendly trekking guide, a small team of porters to take care of the luggage, comfortable accommodation in Kathmandu with all the logistics taken care of on the trail. Importantly, they DON’T want to trek with a bunch of strangers, but with their partner or small group of friends. This is the Active Travel trekking style. These treks depart any day, with a minimum of just two people.

In Kathmandu there is a choice of hotels – a very comfortable 5-star option, or a clean and comfy 3-star alternative, both with breakfast provided. There’s also ample opportunity to discover the highlights of this fascinating and historic city. Out on the trail you stay in a network of cosy lodges in the Everest and Annapurna regions. You can either pre-pay for your meals prior to travel, or have the flexibility of paying in the lodges as you go. The choice is yours. It’s all about flexibility.

Active Travel works with an outstanding partner in Kathmandu and they have been operating trekking holidays since the early 1980s. They have an outstanding track record when it comes to safety and are meticulous in their trek planning and logistics. Trek leaders are well-educated, enthusiastic and fun to travel with. You can rest assured you’ll be in the hands of competent professionals.
